Petrina captured her process for bird photography, a hobby of hers. The postcard is a timeline reading from left to right. Each branch on a tree represents a primary factor that she considers when taking the photo, and the density of the birds on the branches represents secondary factors she considers within the parameters of the primary factors. Empty branches are the decisions she has already made. In the last tree, the bird at the top represents the ideal photo, the second bird flying away represents a photo not turning out well, and the third bird flying towards the tree represents iteration and the opportunity to adjust and try again. See the back of the postcard for the key and other details!
